- May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at the Capitol today, a bill to better screen for and treat mental health issues before they become a crisis passed its first committee.

That bill would require insurers to cover an annual mental health exam screening for things like depression, just as they cover the annual physical to spot problems like high cholesterol.

Supporters hope to reduce the stigma around mental illness by making quality care routine.
